The project carefully applies one of the basic features of architecture/nature – concept of variation, which is in correlation with the living organisms.

All elements grow and develop from curved lines, becoming a variety of colorful installations scattered among the existing vegetation along the central strip.

This architecture works in continuous viewpoints, throughout movements in space, by constant mobility and by dynamic of the ensemble.

The project proposes a re-use of the existing “goat” trails that people have made themselves. These paths are upgraded from the aspect of art, architecture, functionality, technical solutions and symbolism.

Alongside this path, which carefully evades the existing trees, the visitors are invited to engage and discover a variety of microlocations enriched with wireframe installations, sitting areas, observation points, light installations, skate park, swings, children playing fields, playgrounds and galleries.

The Boulevard is intersected by Lignano pinewood pedestrian and bicycle tracks, making it a crucial part of the communication/transport network.

One of the elements (ART/GATE) is symbolising the entrance gate of Boulevard strip, adding some sort of a dramatical vibe which makes the afternoon walk a real and unique adventure.

The project treats Plaza as an inviting environment for community gatherings and spontaneous meetings surrounded by shops, cafes and restaurants.

The Plaza is currently unimpressive and almost dematerialized, but its power is not diminished.

Plaza is not made by the objects, but by the empty space between them. Main idea is to leave the void in between the buildings generally unoccupied, this emptiness has more functionality and flexibility than any object set in space.

The design proposes three simple features and one drastic one.

One element is a water installation that is the focal point of the square. One can walk around the fountain, one can sit on it, one can walk through it, but none can fail to notice it.

The other two elements, stone-like sitting installations and the renovated greenery pools give a discreet touch to the space, leaving the space open and ready for further development.

The journey from the very beginning of Via delle Arti Boulevard culminates in front of the Plaza. The project proposes a new local identity in the form of a pedestrian bridge. This bridge consists of elevated paths above the road that branch off into multiple directions, equipped with stairs and ramps. At certain spots the bridge extends to provide a unique view of the boulevard.

With the same bridge design, on the other side, Plaza is connected to the UNICEF PARK.
